The summer move out season is staying strong this year. That means more people moving out of apartments, and more people wanting to fight for their security deposits. For this reason, I provide this crucial piece of legal advice:
Always provide the landlord with a WRITTEN forwarding address.
According to PA law, the landlord must provide you with an itemized list of damages and the remainder of your security deposit within 30 days after you move out. If the landlord fails to do this, you may sue in Magistrate court for three times as much money.
However, you have to provide the landlord with a WRITTEN forwarding address.
